Type Locality and Naming

Along the Donquztau elevation, Central Kyzylkum. I.M. Abdurazimova, 1988 (24, p.65). The stratotype is located on the southwestern slope of the Kuljuktau mountain, 24 km southeast of the Donquztau elevation, along the Jamanjar (Dzhamanyar) say.

Synonym: Donguztau Suite, Донгузтауская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Coastal-marine, interbedded with continental, greenish-gray, yellow, variegated gravels, sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites), clays with interbeds of conglomerates. Thickness 11-120m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Along the bedding, it lies with erosion on the Shuruk-Cret Fm and transgressively on the Paleozoic. In the schematic stratigraphic column of Takhatau, it lies with erosion on the Bassay Fm. In Tamdytau, with Kynyr-Perm Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain with erosion by the Uchkuduk-Cret Fm.

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, foothills of Kuljuktau, Auminzatau, Tamdytau, Nurata Mountains; exposed in plains by wells. It is correlated with the Tyubegatan Fm, Karikansay Fm, and Tagarin Fm of the South Gissar.

Fossils

Contains marine bivalve mollusks Exogyra trigeri Coq., Lopha dichotoma Bayle.; foraminifera - Trochamminoides cenomanicus (Zhuk.); dinosaur bone fragments and wood; spores and pollen.
